What is the range of the Plume SuperPod?

It's difficult to provide exact numbers because of all the variables such as layout, construction material, furniture, and equipment found in a property.

We recommend starting with at least one SuperPod for small businesses of 92 square metres or less, with an additional SuperPod for every additional 47 square metres. We recommend placing one piece of hardware for every two rooms, spread evenly throughout your environment to maximize performance. If your office or home occupies multiple levels or has several separate, enclosed rooms, you might want to consider additional coverage.

Typically, SuperPods should be placed about 9-12 metres apart through walls and up to 18-24 metres apart for large open spaces.

Be sure to position pods in central locations along the interior walls to ensure a strong connection between each other.

Our system measures the performance between each pod and creates the best pod-to-pod connections for you after optimization completes.

How many pods do I need?

The number of pods you'll need will vary based on a number of factors, such as the layout, construction of your home, how many devices you plan on using and the speed of your internet connection.

One SuperPod is enough to cover a Studio apartment. For a 1-2 bedroom or smaller property, adding one SuperPod is a good start. Adding two SuperPods to your first SuperPod should be adequate for many 3-4 bedroom properties.

We recommend evenly spreading pods around your property, specifically in areas where you often use Wi-Fi. One SuperPod is typically enough to cover two Large rooms.

All pods like to be positioned towards the centre of the property and less on outside walls in order to form a strong core network. If there are large metal objects or furniture between pods, bringing the pods closer together will reduce the connection strength loss between pods.

Additional Pod Placement Examples

Placing your gateway pod (GW: connected via ethernet to a modem/router) in a central part of your home ensures that you are able to distribute your Plume network to all corners of your property! By placing leaf pods (wireless) on interior walls of your home, you can take full advantage of Plume's omnidirectional radios.

Unfortunately, it's not always possible to place your gateway pod in the center of your property due to the existing cable installations. Fortunately, Plume can still accommodate this using the below placement guide!
