Can I use my own WiFi router?
Updated over a week ago

Absolutely!

You can use your own router with Pine Media. You can select this option when placing an order, or by contacting us at any time after installation.

To use your own router with Pine Media, simply unplug our supplied router from the fibre box (ONT) on your wall and plug your router in. Then, follow your router's manual for guidance on configuration.

For your router to be fully compatible, it will need the following:

  • A gigabit ethernet WAN port. A 'fast ethernet' WAN port will work, however, this will limit your speeds to less than 100Mbps.

  • DHCP client on the WAN port. This allows your device to obtain its IP address information.

or

  • A PPPoE client on the WAN port.

Your previous ISP router may not work with Pine Media because some ISPs use different technology to deliver their services, such as DSL and Cable, and some may lock the router to only work with their service.
