We recommend that you use a downloadable app to test your speed

- speedtest.net provides an app for most platforms for this purpose.

Head to https://www.speedtest.net/apps for more information about downloading the speed test app for your device.

Once you have downloaded the speed test app onto your phone or desktop, open your App and Click 'GO' to begin the test."

Browser-based speed tests are rarely able to keep up with ultrafast providers so be sure to use the app for more accurate results.

Checklist for running a speed test:

  • This should be done with a device connected directly to the router with a cable and not over the WiFi.

  • Preferably using a laptop or desktop, avoid other devices such as gaming consoles.

  • If you are using a laptop, ensure that the power cable is plugged in and that you are not running on battery-saving mode.

  • If possible, run a speed test on more than one device whilst plugged into the router. This is to check whether the issue is only on one device or a general problem on the internet.

  • If you experience issues when making use of the WiFi only, this could be an indication that there is a coverage issue within your home.

Please contact us using the chat below for further guidance.

  • If you experience issues on one particular website or service only, this could be an indication that the website/service itself is slow or experiencing high traffic or other problems which are slowing it down. It is not related to your broadband.

If you are still unable to get the correct speeds, please reach out to Support using the chat icon below, or call 0114 2991699
