VoiP or Voice over Internet Protocol can be confusing but hopefully we can help clear that up. VoiP was created and first used back in 1995 but has only really entered the residential market in the last 5 to 10 years. Using the internet instead of traditional copper to transmit your calls from one point to another.
The big question most people have is why do I need to change?
The simple answer is copper lines are being retired. In September 2023 Openreach began there Copper Stop Sell plan to begin slowly removing the ability to order any new copper lines and replace existing copper with new Fibre connections. With copper gone, traditional landlines will become a thing of the past alongside dial up broadband. This process may take the next ten years to achieve but it is slowly happening.
The best way to make sure your number isn't lost and you don't have problems in the future is moving onto VoiP. It takes 5 working days for us to transfer your number from your existing provider onto our server. Just like your mobile phone number, this can be moved from us to another VoiP provider should you wish without any issues.
